Street Monsters by Barbara Joosse - 8/10

A creative tale about city life that invites us to face our fears and learn about the world around us.

A young boy, frightened by the strange sounds and lights of the streets at night, dons his cape and ventures downstairs where he and his father examine each "monster" and learn about different aspects of city maintenance through the vehicles they see.

This is such a unique way to approach the idea of sharing about different types of public works and the illustrations are really well done - the resemblance between the whimsical "monster" that the boy initially sees and the clear features of the vehicles helped make the story especially believable.
