Nothing Ever Happens on My Block by Ellen Raskin - 8/10

This book creates a juxtaposition between its words and pictures, inviting us to see with our own eyes rather than relying on what we're told.

Just as a heads-up, I'm not sure how hard this book will be to track down - Raskin's books (even the more popular ones) seem to be getting increasingly difficult to find in common circulation - but this book was entertaining and had me flipping forward and backward to catch all the different stories developing in the background of the pages. The words themselves are simple, but that is the intention of the book's design.
