Kat Hats by Daniel Pinkwater - 10/10

A whimsical tale about a clever cat who has been trained to impersonate different hats as he embarks on a quest to rescue a friend.

If you've never read a book by Pinkwater before, buckle up. This picture book is a microcosm of his trademark creativity and ability to continue to surprise readers again and again. It is probably fair to say that his books aren't perfect for every reader as they are rather chaotic (and may leave you with a feeling of whiplash), but that is exactly the style of books I have always loved - I want to have each new page feel like its own adventure! (This technique is perhaps a bit less jarring when given the length of a novel, but I still think this was an enjoyable read.)
